List of Vendor Management Solution (VMS) Providers
As part of the VMS Series I’m compiling a list of VMS providers currently in the market.
What is VMS? Click here for a quick introduction. Gale Winters also wrote a great summary on VMS. I hope she resumes blogging.
Though there are predictions out there that the market can only support four or five key players, the list of providers is still way more than that prediction.
I’ve started the list of providers, I’m familiar with the more popular ones as we’ve worked with them, like Chimes, Workforce Logic, BeeLine, Comensura and Fieldglass. The VMS series won’t be talking about the software but more about how they are implemented – what’s working, what’s not working, again, hoping to come up with a list of best practices that will make VMS programs beneficial to all stakeholders – procurement, end users, human resources, contingent workers and the staffing firms that supply them.
This is a working list. I just started it and it is nowhere near complete. My blog is my public notebook. Please feel free to add to it by leaving a comment or by adding me on del.icio.us.
- The Bartech Group
- Beeline
- Click Commerce/Elance
- Comensura
- ECG

- IQNavigator
- Peopleclick
- PROUnlimited
- ProcureStaff

- TalentHire.com - focuses on direct hire vendor management.

Great post! Thanks for the spotlight on VMS.
Does Taleo have a VMS solutions? I thought they closed that group?
Hi Susan,
Thanks for dropping by and thank you for the comment. Were you referring to the accounting irregularities?
Hi Jim,
Thanks for dropping by!
I believe Taleo does have it, though it is not labeled as VMS. I think they use the term “talent management.” The descriptions of the solutions do sound like though as they also cover “contingent talent” (it’s there somewhere all the way to the side of the web page).

Thank you guys for your input.
Hi Lisa,
Just wanted to make you aware of us, TALENThire.com - we are a Recruitment Vendor Optimization tool for direct hire. Our goal is to create not only a VMS but a fruitful marketplace in direct hire that benefits both agencies and hiring companies. I would be happy to provide you or anyone else additional information if wanted. Thanks.

Thanks for dropping by, Scott.
I’m adding Talenthire.com to the list and my bookmarks.
IQNavigator is also a leading VENDOR NEUTRAL VMS provider providing a service procurement tool for other categories outside of contingne. Beeline (not vendor neutral- owned by a staffing company). Fieldglass has to partner with someone to provide a MSP
Hi Ashley,
Thanks for pointing it out. How could I forget to mention IQNavigator?
Also thank you for pointing out the vendor neutrality issue, which I am planning on addressing more in detail later.
Thanks again.
How about Chimes? I believe they are now owned by Ensemble.
Hi Jeff, you are right, they are now part of Ensemble. They are on the list as ECG.
Comensura just changed to Guidant here in the US. I’d be curious to hear what’s going on with them
Hi Chris, I was going to gear more into issues associated with VMS but it seems a lot of folks are interested in the business. I’ll try to work it into the content. Thank you for your input.
ProUnlimited also participates in this arena
Thanks again,Chris.
The blog as my collaborative and public notebook…as clearly demonstrated in the input and contributions of those who have dropped by.
Thanks!
Hey Lisa,
We’re not quite a VMS, but rather a one-stop shop for recruiters and companies seeking agencies and to fill positions in a cost-effective manner.
We, for no up front fee, allow recruiters to fill large company positions and only share a small percentage of the feel IF you place someone. Again, NO up front subscription fee! We also are the leader in this area with over 600 new postings. Please let me know if I can be of assistance to your blog members.
Gary
Also not sure if our company name came up - it’s Bounty Jobs (www.bountyjobs.com). Thanks.
Comensura was sued by a black minority business
for unfair trade practices. The name change to Guidant Group was to evade the bad publicity.

Looks like Agile-1 was left off your list. Agile-1 offers a VMS, MSP, applicant tracking, project and resource management as well as 1099 compliance.
Great blog, Lisa,
Just to let you know, the correct spelling of “workforce logic,” is WorkforceLogic.
Thank you.
Sharon Reppert
WorkforceLogic
FYI… EnterForce is also a Managed Services Provider of Vendor Management Solutions.
Lisa,
Just found your blog & enjoy it. Wanted to share that COMSYS is also a MSP and VMS provider, and that we are working to assist former Chimes/ECG clients and employees. Our vWorx MSP group has been in this space for 8 years, and we work with multiple VMS Tools - Fieldlass, Beeline, Peopleclick & Econometrix (full disclosure - COMSYS acquired Econometrix in early 2007).
COMSYS recommends that all former Chimes/ECG clients review the Human Capital Institute’s MSP & VMS Standards Guide as they plot their next move.
Like all service firms in this space, we are of course interested in helping Chimes clients re-establish their programs, but we’re also willing to just talk & bounce ideas off of anyone that may be interested in some 3rd party advice.
Thanks,
Dave
[…] once started a list of VMS providers and it obviously needs refreshing. Yes, ECG is still listed […]
Hi Lisa,
We came across your list and wanted to mention that we too have a Vendor Management System and are working with several Chimes/ECG clients currently.
Thank you!
Lori
If the definition of a VMS is a company that offers a software tool, I’m not sure companies like Comensura (now called “Guidant”) and Bartech should be on this list. They both offer someone ELSE’S software in a reseller arrangement — they don’t have their own software platforms.

Anyone hear a rumor about Taleo going under? I know chimes folded, but some local agency staffing firms in chicago area are stating that they have Taleo folded. I couldn’t find any evidence that would support this. If anyone know anything, please let me know.

Just want to update your list with a company who has been providing its own proprietary VMS tool, TAMS, since 2000. The company’s name is nextSource,Inc. It has an impressive client base and it operates as either an MSP/VMS provider (most often) or will license its software to responsible partners. Additionally it offers People Ticker, the world’s only real time Pay and Bill Rate benchmarking tool. Its HQ is in NYC and its CEO since its founding in 1999 until today is Joe Musacchio.
Lisa: Thanks very much for your kind words on my article about VMS and it’s variations. I have been out for several months, will return 2nd quarter I hope.
As a short adjuct to that article, I believe it’s now VMS turn to do some house cleaning. They are unregulated, especially by industry standards, (my most important measure); and will go through a consolidation, standardization and standard setting over the next year or so. It has already begun with the American Staffing Association leading the way. There is much more to come on this subject as it evolves, I look forward to further contributions.
Ran across your blog. I did not see dotStaff listed, but I have introduced the dotStaff solution to a few of my clients (I am in investment banking) with great success. I looked at many VMS, but the dotStaff design and service seemed to exceed the normal VMS solutions. Given the Chimes fiasco, the security solution dotStaff offered my clients protected them at all times so I could sleep at night.
I just recently came across this page. I represent a firm which also participates in VMS.
Sorry - forgot the name
Unified Business Technologies, Inc.
You did not list our company (Acro Service) and solution (XRM Solutions) in your list. We have been providing VMS/MSP services since 2002!
